Her birthday is on March 29th, 1985 in Roswell in New Mexico. Gerina Michelle Mendoza has been her birth name. Gerina Stevenson, the child of Mexican parentage Rita Stevenson and Alan Stevenson. Stevenson is of Mexican roots, yet is American as a national. Since her early years the desire for her to be engaged in sport was strong. Gerina played golf when she was just the age of 15. Gerina was a student at Goddard High School for her secondary education. As a high school student, Gerina took home in the New Mexico golf state tournament. Her volleyball skills were also recognised at a national stage. The year 2003 was the time she enrolled at the University of Texas. During the senior seasons of her professional career, she had won every tournament that she participated in. In her time at college, she received her Conference USA Player of The Year Award as well as the UTEP Female Sports Athletics Award.
